An old deck was removed to be replaced by a patio and an entry deck with wrap around steps is the project.
After replacing the Rim joist and sill plate on the house that was rotted. I layed out the area for the pavers. Did some smooothing of the dirt, knocking off the high spots. Then i brought in 1.5 tons of sand for this 14×24 patio.
I snapped a line against the house and string lined the perimeter where i wanted it. Started at the house on one end and worked my way down and across. Laying each paver and checking for any teetering and staying with my lines as i went along. Keep the pavers tight and straight as well.
Patio near completion other than siding house, filling paver joints with special sand that hardens like concrete, preventing weed growth. Then finishing building steps.
Above, i spread the sand with a broom after everything else was done. Once all sand was spread and the sand off the top of the pavers and just in the joints then you lightly shower the patio to dampen it, not flood it with water. Wait 10 minutes, then repeat 3 times. Wait 24hrs to walk on it after that.
